Cloverwood Candle Studio began with a mother’s mission. In 2022, Heather Smith founded the company after her oldest daughter—who has asthma and a soy sensitivity—struggled to find safe, affordable candles. Most store-bought options triggered asthma attacks, leaving few alternatives. Heather set out to create something better: non-toxic, beautifully crafted candles her daughter could enjoy.
What started as a small project in Heather’s home quickly grew into something more. With the help of her youngest son Jeffrey, Cloverwood became a regular at the Shelton Farmers Market, where the response was overwhelmingly positive. After two years of selling candles from home and at the market, Cloverwood Candle Studio found its new home—a cozy shop where you can drop in to pour your own custom candle or book a private event for a unique experience.
Today, the studio is truly a family affair. You might be welcomed by Heather herself, her sons Jacob and Jeffrey, her niece Baylee, or even her oldest daughter Kenzie. Behind the scenes, Heather’s husband Kirk is always ready to support her next big idea (and often building something to make it happen). And if you follow us on social media, you’re seeing the creative work of Kenzie, Heather’s daughter.
We’re proud to be a family-owned and operated business offering handcrafted, non-toxic candles and an inviting space for creativity.
Whether you’re looking for a safer alternative to traditional candles or a hands-on candle-making experience, we can’t wait to welcome you to Cloverwood Candle Studio.
